Alliance award education scholarships

Source: Aftermarket Business

Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper has awarded 16 $1,000 scholarships to employees and/or their children to assist in their post-high school education.

To address the increasing costs of continuing education, the program was altered from the previous $500 scholarships to $1,000 to use at the school of their choice. In its 13th year, the program has provided more than $200,000 to employees and their families to help continue their education.

Students seeking a scholarship were required to write a 200-word essay on “What I hope to accomplish through my post high school graduation.” Applicants must have completed high school to be considered for the scholarship, which will be paid to the recipient’s trade school, college or university of choice for the fall 2009 semester.

“Money is tight for everyone these days and hard choices have to be made; we believe education shouldn’t be a casualty,” says Steve Marks, senior vice president of marketing/advertising for Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper. “We’re committed to helping our employees be successful and if this scholarship helps make the burden lighter or makes the difference between going to school or not, then we’ve made the right choice in supporting the college scholarship program.”

Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper is part of Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, one of the largest auto parts distribution and marketing organizations in the world.
