Northwood University has selected five female students to attend the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association's (AAIA) 2009 Aftermarket Legislative Summit, March 11-12, as part of a leadership scholarship donated by Continental Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket. The Continental Female Leadership Award is available to Northwood University female students to participate in the biennial summit in Washington, D.C.

"These students are excited to participate, honored by the distinction and grateful to AAIA and Continental," says Robert Sundwick, professor and chairman of the Automotive Aftermarket Management department at the Florida campus of Northwood University. "This is a unique opportunity that helps encourage female participation in the automotive aftermarket industry, as well as provides a real world understanding of the legislative process and the importance of industry involvement."

The five Northwood scholarship winners that will attend the Legislative Summit are:

Michigan campus:

Dominique Danko
Jessica Chimielewski-McIntee
Jaclyn Studor

Florida campus:

Millicent J. McCarthy
Alena Vancleave

There is no cost to attend the summit, and participants will be thoroughly coached and prepared for their Congressional visits during an issue briefing session on the afternoon of March 11 at The Washington Grand Hyatt.

A legislative reception will take place that evening on Capitol Hill. Attendees will spend March 12 walking the halls of Congress meeting their elected officials. AAIA staff will set up appointments for participants with their district representative and two U.S. senators.

Online registration for the 2009 Aftermarket Legislative Summit is now available. For information on how to register, visit www.aftermarket.org, call Cael Pulitzer at (301) 654-6664 or e-mail cael.pulitzer@aftermarket.org. The registration deadline is Feb. 15.
