AU college adds automotive curriculum

Source: Aftermarket Business

Automotive engineering and manufacturing curriculum has been added to the Auburn University Samuel Ginn College of Engineering — a first in the region.

Participating students can earn a 15-credit minor formulated to prepare engineers for automotive industry careers, which are booming in the Southeast. Vehicle quality, logistics, design and planning are all focuses of the program.

Coursework is open to students during their junior and senior years and includes concentrations on lean manufacturing systems, vehicle trends and technologies, vehicle dynamics and Six Sigma data processing.

The program hopes to aid the state’s automotive factories by training employees for management roles, further boosting the Alabama economy and plant efficiency.
