AutoZone has decreased its employee turnover by 46 percent and saved an estimated $5 million annually since implementing nowHIRE’s applicant tracking and talent acquisition system in November 2007. Since the implementation, AutoZone has seen a 50 percent increase in the number of qualified candidates, a 20 percent reduction in time-to-fill for corporate jobs and a 20 percent reduction in terminations for integrity/internal theft. “This implementation shows our commitment and ability to support recruiting and talent management needs from the corporate office to the store,” said Joseph N. Impastato, II, nowHIRE’s president. The system is a fully integrated, Web-based, multiple-track application process for corporate, hourly, internal and contingent workers. Candidates for corporate positions pre-screen themselves with weighted question types and also provide a resume. Hourly “store” candidates are put through a more robust yet extremely easy-to-navigate “applicant self-selection” process that extracts pertinent candidate information. The paperless process eliminates paper usage, mailings, postage, imaging, storage, printing and faxing of applications and on-boarding forms. “Enhancing the applicant experience and improving turnover rates were two of our biggest objectives,” said Ann Morgan, vice president of human resources for AutoZone. “The nowHIRE implementation exceeded our expectations with 46 percent decrease in turnover rate and a significant estimated cost savings of $5 million annually.”
